Welcome to the East Madison Community Center (EMCC)

Welcome to the East Madison Community Center!

For 57 years, EMCC has provided a safe place for families in the Truax neighborhood to gather, learn and support one another. We are devoted to helping residents achieve their goals, gain skills and strengthen the community through education, employment, fitness and socialization.

The Spark of an Idea
EMCC was formed in 1966 out of a community need to help expand activities for area youth and adults. The Center began in humble quarters in a small apartment, initially providing youth with structured activities and adults with a neighborhood-based meeting facility.

Today, we are a thriving multi-service center providing social, educational, recreational, and cultural programming. With a small paid staff and 250 volunteers, the Center plays a crucial role in helping residents connect with resources necessary to enhance the quality of life for individuals and the community as a whole.

Welcome to your home away from home! Join us as together we help build brighter futures for local families.

Programs

At EMCC you’ll see friendly faces, children playing and learning, families connecting, volunteers making a difference. Discover a safe, welcoming space where our diverse community connects and cares for one another.

Thanks to strong partnerships with area businesses including TruStage, American Family Insurance, TASC, and Ascendium; organizations including Madison College, UW-Madison, United Way and the City of Madison as well as dozens of non-profit partners, the Center recently celebrates 57 years of service this year and looks forward to many more.

The East Madison Community Center is an equal opportunity provider.
